What's this about?

I am Shannon and my husband is Chris. This is a place to share and process struggles related to miscarriages, eating disorders, and Shannon's struggle with sexual abuse. We have found that joy, exempt of Christ, is often bittersweet in this life. We look forward to heaven where sweetness will abound and bitterness will be gone.

Made For Perfection by Shannon Schroeder

Made For Perfection (by Shannon Schroeder)

We were made for perfection
We weren't made to live this way
We were made for eternity
Not just living day to day
We were made to live in joy
To walk with you always
And someday things will be restored
Again, we'll see you face to face

Day by day,
I see the tears of people crying
Every single day,
I hear about another person dying
And I think how much it hurts
How cruel life can be
And then I remember how you made us
Then I finally see

We were made for perfection
We weren't made to live this way
We were made for eternity
Not just living day to day
We were made to live in joy
To walk with you always
And someday things will be restored
Again, we'll see you face to face

There's a man who's walking by me
He's hungry and alone
A mother with just her babies
No place to call their home
A teenage girl with no friends
Who wants to end her life
A little boy who's hurting
Because he just lost another fight

We were made for perfection
We weren't made to live this way
We were made for eternity
Not just living day to day
We were made to live in joy
To walk with you always
And someday things will be restored
Again, we'll see you face to face

One day, things will be restored
One day, this will pass, it will be no more
One day, things will be perfect once again
So we wait, we pray until then

We were made for perfection
We weren't made to live this way
We were made for eternity
Not just living day to day
We were made to live in joy
To walk with you always
And someday things will be restored
Again, we'll see you face to face

  1. Shannon,
The sentiment of your poem is beautiful-God inspired. I have been having a rough time myself these days, I wish I could call you and we could talk. It's hard not having friends around to talk to. Keep writing friend. There is the in your words

  2. Hey, it's me again. I just realized there was a typo in my previous comment. This is what it was supposed to say:

  3. Shannon,
What a beautiful poem you wrote, so true to life. Life as we know it is a poor reflection of what God had intended for us walking and talking forever in the garden of perfection. No death, no suffering, no relational problems, no hundred miles between best friends. So we wait and we hope, and we are homesick for heaven because that is where our Master is, and that is where our beloved ones are. But Jesus promised that He will not leave us, He will send us His Spirit and He always keeps His promises. Love you so much! Bec
