What's this about?

I am Shannon and my husband is Chris. This is a place to share and process struggles related to miscarriages, eating disorders, and Shannon's struggle with sexual abuse. We have found that joy, exempt of Christ, is often bittersweet in this life. We look forward to heaven where sweetness will abound and bitterness will be gone.

Confession

Here's a confession I haven't shared with everyone yet.

I felt truly ugly on my wedding day and in the pictures I saw afterwards...to this day, it's still a stressful subject for me.

Sometimes I like that picture and sometimes I hate it. My mind feels so confused.

  2. Shannon, I've told you this on multiple occasions but I can't even find the words to express how amazing you looked that day. I glanced at Chris and you could just tell that he was thinking, "wow, I'm the luckiest guy in this world. I am going to have the most beautiful wife." I bet if you'd ask him to this day, you're still the most beautiful girl he's ever laid eyes on. What does it matter what everyone else thinks when you're husband loves you just as you are and your family thinks your beautiful too. <3

  3. Shannon,
I don't think I have to tell you this, but we all have doubts and negative feelings in regards to our self-image at some point in our lives. It's normal and just another way to tell that we're human. Even so, you are one of the most beautiful people I've ever met. Inside and out. I must remind you though, that it's not as important as what we look like as much as what God sees. Remember 1 Samuel 16:7: "But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” And honey, you've got one of the purest intentions I have ever known-you strive to find God in your daily activities and share that with others. That's what matters: that's what is storing you in heavenl
    all my love, Debbie

  5. You're a beautiful creation by God. Sin makes us think negative thoughts and brings confusion. Don't let temptation and sin get in the way of love for yourself and the creation that God has made of you and everything around you. God loves every little bit about you, because He created such wonderful artistry.
Satan will do anything and everything to tear you down. Remember, in Narnia, it's like whenever Edmond let the Serpent know its thoughts...and the Serpent became the temptation, evil desires..etc...well, this falls just like it..Don't let Satan know your fears or evil desires..or he will know it all, and tempt you, making you want to sin. Stand strong in Christ. Christ is by your side, never leaving you.

    Praying for you. <3 Mak
